About Chive Cavies
Back To Home Page
Hello,

Welcome to my website for C.h.i.v.e Cavies.

C.h.i.v.e. Cavies is run by myself and my 3 daughters, hence the initials. C is for Chloe, H is for Harriet, I is for Isobel, V is for me Vicky and E is for everyone else.

As well as C.h.i.v.e. Cavies I run a small rescue for unwanted guinea pigs, we do try to rehome as many of them as we can, but a few of them have never left our home and are now loved family pets.

I have actually had guinea pigs for over 17 years, starting out with 2 pink eyed whites called Pinky and Perky.

I very soon found out that guinea pigs are very social pets and certainly have great characters.   After learning the basics with guinea pigs, I acquired two more sows and a cream boar and my breeding started right there.

I have since increased and decreased my numbers to fit along side family committments and the rescue was started about 5 years ago, but put on hold while we move in August 2004.   After settling in for a couple of months I restarted the rescue and to this day (8.2.06), I have had approximately 100+ guinea pigs through my door and successfully rehomed.   To many this might not seem a large number, but for an animal so small its a lot of unwanted piggies.

C.h.i.v.e. Cavies came about in the year 2005 when I decided to extend my breeding program and go back into the showing side again.   This is where my search for Dalmation Guinea Pigs started.

I acquired Smudger, Primrose (Sadly R.I.P.) Buttercup, Minstrel and Murphy in April 2005 and then more Dalmations came along over the next few months.   I very soon found myself with six different colours in the Dalmations and my breeding stock was complete.

I have now downsized my Dalmation stock to just the Black but as a stud we also have Buff & Buff Crested, Peruvian, Coronet, Rex, Texels and Merinos and of course our much loved pet piggies.

So take a look around at my site, if you like what you see please come again.   Dont forget to sign the guestbook.
